EVEWalletAware EVEWalletAware - Manual

Introduction - Menus

This and the next chapters will guide you through EWA's menus and explain to you, what each menu entry can do.

Menu File

File - Open grid

In most of EWA's windows you can right-click the grid and choose Save grid. The difference between saving the grid and exporting the grid (see below) is that when saving the grid, it's saved in the grid's proprietary format. You can pass this file to another EWA user. That user may now open that file via the File - Open grid option. He sees the grid exactly as you exported it (with all the data). This might be an easy way to demonstrate/show i.e. certain transactions to someone else without handing over the raw data.

File - Export grid to file

EWA provides lots of different data to wade through. Within each of EWA's screens, it allows you to refine the displayed data with various filters. But this sometimes isn't enough. You want to do your own analysis, with (filter) options not provided by EWA. Or you wish to cross-link data from EWA to other pieces of information.

EWA tries to help you out there with the option to save the contents of the data currently displayed in the selected grid to file. EWA can either store it as a plain text file or in MS Excel (97) format.

The grids of the following screens can be exported to a file:

Keep in mind that the current contents of the grid will be exported. That means all filters currently active are respected.

File - Export/Import EWA data

Sometimes you might wish to export/import data from one EWA installation to another. Either to keep two different EWA installations in sync. Or to share your data (corporation data is the most likely candidate for this) with other EWA users, for example if you were responsible to manage your corp's financial status, but now this burd... erhm ... honor is taken over by somone else.

File Export EWA data

Choose which data should be exported: wallet transactions and/or wallet journals. As always, the main window decides about the kind of data of data this screen deals with, personal or corporation data.

Please note: Currently EWA stores any wallet transaction and journal ever retrieved, because the EVE API doesn't let you access older data. However, the API always provides all market orders and assets. That's why you can't export/import market orders and assets here.

You can export as much accounts/characters as you like to the same file. EWA keeps track of the different data sets.

After you've opened an EWA export file, the application shows you which exports are available for import from this file.

File Import EWA data

Select the entries you'd like to import in the grid by checking the appropriate checkboxes. Choose if EWA should keep the character and corporation name of the original character (the one this export stems from). Typically you should leave these two options unchecked. When importing data, EWA replaces the character and corporation name from the export file with the names of the character you're about to import this data to. Which makes sense, that's why you did that export in the first place, right?. If you're exporting/importing from/to the same character, it doesn't matter and these options don't make a difference. It does matter for different characters, though. Changing the names to the current ones let's you use the imported data with this character. But your ingame wallet transactions and wallet journals no longer match with the data in EWA.

EWA will take care of existing database entries. Importing data from the same character doesn't produce duplicates.

File - Exit

Well, close and end EWA, 'nuff said.

Back to Main window or continue to Menu - Wallet.
